Latest News And Announcements: London Data Centre Network Incident - Resolved

Published: 27/05/2026
We would like to provide further information regarding today's network interruption affecting services hosted within our London infrastructure.

Earlier today, a fault occurred within one of the cooling condenser units at the DDCL London facility where several of our core network systems are hosted. Combined with unusually high ambient temperatures in London, this resulted in elevated temperatures within parts of the data centre.

As temperatures increased, a number of short-range (SR) optical transceivers within the data centre network reached their operational temperature limits and automatically shut down to protect the equipment. This caused disruption to portions of the London core network and resulted in intermittent connectivity and service outages for some customers.

DDCL engineers responded immediately and worked to restore cooling capacity within the facility. As environmental conditions improved, network engineers reset affected optics and equipment. In some cases, optical modules and line cards were replaced to restore services as quickly as possible.

All affected services have now been restored and network operations have returned to normal.

We appreciate that reliability is critical and understand the impact this incident may have had on your services. Tomorrow we will be conducting a full post-incident review with the data centre and our network team to determine what additional safeguards can be implemented to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption caused and thank you for your patience and understanding while the issue was resolved.
