How to Upload Files to a Remote Server Using FileZilla
FileZilla allows you to upload files from your local computer to a remote server using FTP or SFTP. This is commonly used to upload website files, images, or application data.
Before you begin
Ensure FileZilla is installed, running, and connected to your remote server.
Understanding the FileZilla interface
Local files are shown on the left side of FileZilla, while remote server files and folders appear on the right side.
Upload files using drag and drop
- In the remote server pane (right side), navigate to the folder where you want to upload files.
- In the local file pane (left side), locate the file or folder you want to upload.
- Click and drag the file or folder from the left pane to the right pane.
FileZilla will begin uploading the selected files immediately.
Upload multiple files or folders
You can upload multiple files or entire folders by selecting them before dragging, or by right-clicking and choosing Upload.
Tip: Large uploads may take time depending on file size and your internet connection.
Verify the upload
Once the transfer completes, confirm the files appear in the remote directory. Refresh the directory listing if needed.
