How to Import and Export SQL Server Databases
Fast2Host Windows hosting uses Microsoft SQL Server on Windows Server 2022. You can import, export, back up, and restore databases using the tools in Plesk or Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Option 1: Use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
SSMS is the recommended tool for importing and exporting SQL Server databases.
Download SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
SSMS includes the Import and Export Wizard, which allows you to:
- Import data from another SQL Server
- Export your database to files or another server
- Copy tables, schemas, and data
- Run full or partial migrations
To open the Import and Export Wizard manually:
DTSWizard.exe
Option 2: Use Plesk Backup and Restore Tools
Plesk for Windows includes built-in tools for exporting and importing SQL Server databases:
- Create full SQL Server backups (.bak files)
- Download database backups for offline storage
- Restore from uploaded .bak files
- Manage multiple databases and users
To access these tools:
- Log in to Plesk
- Select Databases
- Select your SQL Server database
- Choose Backup or Import Dump
- Upload or download .bak files as needed
This is the recommended method when moving data between Fast2Host servers or restoring older databases.
