How Can I Minimise Downtime When Transferring a Domain to Fast2Host?

To keep your website and email online during the move to Fast2Host, follow the steps below. When completed in order, most customers experience zero downtime.

  1. Activate your hosting account. Your welcome email includes FTP login details. Upload your website files to your hosting space.
  2. Check your default homepage. Ensure index.php or index.html exists, and delete any placeholder pages.
  3. Preview your site using a temporary URL. In Plesk, use a Domain Alias. In cPanel, use the Temporary Preview URL. Our Support Team can set this up if needed.
  4. Set up email accounts before DNS changes. Create mailboxes in Plesk or cPanel so incoming email will flow correctly once DNS updates.
  5. Update nameservers at your domain registrar. Replace your current NS records with the Fast2Host nameservers. DNS changes usually propagate within 12–48 hours.
  6. Wait for DNS propagation to complete. Use a DNS checker or your browser to confirm your domain now loads from Fast2Host.
  7. Cancel your old hosting service. Once stable on Fast2Host for at least 24 hours, safely close your old hosting account.

Following these steps ensures a smooth, interruption-free migration. If you prefer us to handle the full migration for you, migrations - just ask.
