How Can I Minimise Downtime When Transferring a Domain to Fast2Host?
To keep your website and email online during the move to Fast2Host, follow the steps below. When completed in order, most customers experience zero downtime.
- Activate your hosting account. Your welcome email includes FTP login details. Upload your website files to your hosting space.
- Check your default homepage. Ensure
index.phporindex.htmlexists, and delete any placeholder pages. - Preview your site using a temporary URL. In Plesk, use a Domain Alias. In cPanel, use the Temporary Preview URL. Our Support Team can set this up if needed.
- Set up email accounts before DNS changes. Create mailboxes in Plesk or cPanel so incoming email will flow correctly once DNS updates.
- Update nameservers at your domain registrar. Replace your current NS records with the Fast2Host nameservers. DNS changes usually propagate within 12–48 hours.
- Wait for DNS propagation to complete. Use a DNS checker or your browser to confirm your domain now loads from Fast2Host.
- Cancel your old hosting service. Once stable on Fast2Host for at least 24 hours, safely close your old hosting account.
Following these steps ensures a smooth, interruption-free migration. If you prefer us to handle the full migration for you, migrations - just ask.
