Sync Tasks, Contacts, and Calendar with Outlook (SmarterMail & cPanel)
Outlook can synchronize tasks, contacts, and calendar items with your email hosting account. Depending on whether you are using SmarterMail or cPanel, the setup process differs slightly. Follow the instructions below for your hosting environment.
SmarterMail (Exchange ActiveSync)
SmarterMail supports Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), which provides full synchronization of email, contacts, calendars, and tasks with Outlook.
- Open Outlook and go to File → Account Settings → New.
- Select Exchange ActiveSync as the account type.
- Enter the following details:
- Email Address: Your full email address
- Server: Your SmarterMail webmail URL (e.g.
mail.yourdomain.com) - Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
- Click Next and Outlook will test the connection.
- Once verified, Outlook will begin syncing tasks, contacts, and calendar items automatically.
Note: Exchange ActiveSync is available on SmarterMail Professional editions. POP/IMAP accounts will not sync tasks or contacts.
cPanel (CalDAV & CardDAV)
cPanel supports synchronization of calendars and contacts using CalDAV and CardDAV. Outlook does not natively support these protocols, but you can use third-party add-ins or apps to enable syncing.
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Navigate to Email Accounts → Connect Devices.
- Copy the CalDAV (calendar)CardDAV (contacts)
- Install an Outlook add-in such as Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer
- In the add-in settings, paste the CalDAV/CardDAV URLs and enter your email credentials.
- Outlook will now sync your contacts and calendar with cPanel.
Note: Tasks are not supported via CalDAV/CardDAV. For full collaboration features, consider upgrading to SmarterMail with Exchange ActiveSync.
