How to Connect to IIS Remote Management in Plesk for Windows
On modern Fast2host Windows hosting, IIS remote management is handled through Plesk Obsidian. This replaces the older WebsitePanel system used on Windows 2008. Plesk allows you to enable IIS Remote Management, set a password, and connect using the IIS Manager for Remote Administration tool.
This guide explains how to enable remote IIS access and connect from your PC.
Step 1: Install IIS Manager for Remote Administration
Download and install the official Microsoft IIS Remote Administration tool:
Step 2: Enable IIS Remote Management in Plesk
- Log in to your Plesk control panel.
- Go to Websites & Domains.
- Select your domain.
- Click IIS Remote Management (or “IIS Settings” depending on template).
- Enable remote IIS access.
- Create or update your Remote IIS Management password.
The username is typically your hosting system user (shown in Plesk).
Step 3: Connect Using IIS Manager
- Open IIS Manager on your PC.
- Go to File → Connect to a Site...
- Enter the connection details shown in Plesk:
- Server: your server hostname
- Site name: your domain
- Username: your Plesk system user
- Password: the remote IIS password you created
- If prompted, accept or install the SSL certificate.
The default port for IIS remote management is 8172.
Step 4: Recycle Your Application Pool
Once connected in IIS Manager:
- Right‑click your site in the Connections panel.
- Select Manage Website → Restart or Manage Application → Recycle.
This refreshes your application pool and resolves many ASP.NET or IIS caching issues.
