Catch-All Email Addresses in SmarterMail
Due to a bug in SmarterMail, your catch-all email address may not function correctly. If you require this feature, please contact our support team at support@fast2host.com so we can enable it for your domain, provided you can justify its use.
Important Considerations
- Catch-all email addresses are a magnet for spam and should be avoided whenever possible.
- It is generally better to set up individual POP3 accounts for specific addresses.
- Forwarding catch-all email addresses to external providers (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) is strongly discouraged as it increases the risk of our servers being blacklisted.
Policy Enforcement
Anyone found forwarding catch-all email addresses to external mail domains may have the facility removed. This policy is in place to protect all Fast2Host customers from spam-related issues and server blacklisting.
Recommended Alternatives
- Create individual POP3 accounts for each required email address.
- Use aliases or forwarding rules for specific addresses rather than a blanket catch-all.
- Regularly review and update your email setup to minimize spam exposure.
⚠ Warning: Catch-all email addresses pose significant risks.
Use them only if absolutely necessary and never forward them to external providers.
