How to Clear the DNS Cache in Windows

Clearing your DNS cache can help resolve issues where a website or server appears to point to the wrong IP address after a recent change.

Supported Windows versions

These steps apply to Windows 10, Windows 11, and most modern versions of Windows Server.

Clear the DNS cache
  1. Click Start or press the Windows key.
  2. Type cmd.
  3. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  4. When the command window opens, type:
    ipconfig /flushdns
  5. Press Enter.
You should see a message confirming that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
Clear your browser cache

You may also need to clear your browser cache (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) or restart your browser to ensure changes take effect.
