The Technology Behind Fast2Host

How Fast2Host was built with Astro, 80,000+ lines of automation and AI-assisted engineering — plus charts comparing Astro’s JS payload and LCP against Next.js, Nuxt and traditional stacks.

Fast2Host is more than just a website—it’s an intelligent technology platform built to automate, process, and publish information efficiently. Every aspect of the platform has been carefully designed to deliver speed, reliability, scalability, and an exceptional user experience while embracing the latest advances in software engineering and artificial intelligence.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Fast2Host is that AI built the platform. That isn’t the case.

I did not manually write more than 80,000 lines of code, and AI did not create Fast2Host on its own. Instead, I used AI as an advanced software development tool to help generate much of the code that powers the platform. The vision, architecture, workflows, design, engineering decisions, testing, and final implementation were all my responsibility.

Using AI didn’t replace the developer—it enhanced the development process. By combining modern AI-assisted software engineering with my own technical expertise, I was able to build a sophisticated platform in a fraction of the time that traditional development would have required.

More Than a Website

It is important to understand that the 80,000+ lines of code are not the Fast2Host website itself. They are the automation, processing, and supporting services that power the platform behind the scenes.

These systems retrieve information from multiple trusted sources, including APIs and external services, intelligently process and validate the data, apply custom business logic, optimise media, and generate website content using my own templates. Once complete, the platform automatically builds the website using the Astro framework, producing an ultra-fast static website ready for deployment.

In other words, the website is the final product. The 80,000+ lines of code are the intelligent platform that creates it.

Built Using Modern Technology

Fast2Host is built on the Astro framework, chosen for its exceptional performance, security, scalability, and modern architecture. Combined with my automation platform, Astro enables Fast2Host to deliver outstanding page speeds while remaining easy to expand as new services and technologies are introduced.

Why Astro is fast compared with other frameworks

Most modern web frameworks are designed as application platforms. They ship a client-side runtime (React, Vue, and so on) even when a page is mostly static content. Astro takes the opposite approach for content and marketing sites: HTML first, JavaScript only where you opt in.

ApproachTypical client JS on a content pageWhat that means for visitors
Astro (default)~0 KBPage is pre-rendered HTML — no framework bootstrap before content appears
Nuxt (baseline)~45–55 KBVue runtime still reaches the browser
Next.js (baseline)~80–120 KBReact runtime / router cost on static pages too
Gatsby-style stacks~100 KB+Heavier client bundles for content sites

Bar chart comparing client JavaScript shipped: Astro ~0 KB, Nuxt ~50 KB, Next.js ~90 KB, Gatsby ~120 KB

Illustrative baselines for mostly-static content pages. Interactive dashboards and apps need more JavaScript in every framework — Astro’s “islands” let us add React or Vue only on the components that need it.

That smaller (or zero) JavaScript payload is one reason content sites on Astro often reach visitors sooner on mobile networks:

Bar chart of typical Largest Contentful Paint on Slow 4G: Astro ~0.9s, Nuxt ~1.4s, Next.js ~1.5s, traditional CMS ~2.8s

Illustrative Slow-4G style LCP ranges for marketing/content pages. Exact numbers depend on images, fonts, third-party scripts and hosting — but the pattern is consistent: less client JS and static HTML usually win on first load.

For Fast2Host that matters because the public site is largely product and information pages. Astro lets the build output stay lean, while still hydrating interactive pieces (menus, calculators, dashboards) as islands when needed.

From the beginning, every part of the platform was carefully planned. I designed how information should be collected, processed, validated, optimised, and presented to visitors. AI then assisted in transforming those designs into production-ready code, which was thoroughly reviewed, tested, refined, and integrated into the final platform.

The result is a highly automated publishing system that continues to evolve as new technologies become available.

How the Technology Works

Behind every page on Fast2Host is a sophisticated automation platform designed to perform thousands of individual tasks with minimal manual intervention.

When new content is created or existing information is updated, the platform automatically:

  • Collects information from trusted APIs and external data sources.
  • Validates and processes that information.
  • Applies custom business logic.
  • Generates structured website content.
  • Optimises images and other media.
  • Creates responsive assets for different screen sizes.
  • Builds the website using the Astro framework.
  • Produces a fast, secure static website ready for deployment.

Every stage is handled through custom-developed automation, ensuring consistency, speed, and reliability across the platform.

For example, Fast2Host includes intelligent image processing that automatically generates multiple optimised image sizes for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Rather than manually creating every image variation, the platform builds responsive WebP assets during the build process, significantly reducing page sizes while maintaining excellent image quality.

The platform also analyses images before replacing them, ensuring optimisation only occurs when it provides a genuine improvement. This means image quality is preserved while reducing unnecessary bandwidth and improving page loading times.

These examples represent only a small part of the engineering behind Fast2Host. Similar automation exists throughout the platform, handling everything from content generation and API integrations to optimisation, validation, reporting, and deployment.

AI Embedded Throughout Fast2Host

AI isn’t only used during development—it is embedded throughout Fast2Host’s wider technology strategy.

Artificial Intelligence helps accelerate software development, improve automation, streamline internal workflows, assist with content preparation, enhance selected images, and support ongoing innovation across the platform.

However, AI does not independently control Fast2Host. Every AI-assisted output is reviewed, tested, refined, and integrated through carefully designed engineering processes. The platform’s architecture, business logic, data sources, templates, security, and publishing decisions remain under my control.

The images featured throughout Fast2Host are based on real photographs and authentic source material. Where appropriate, AI has been used to enhance image quality by improving clarity, lighting, resolution, and overall presentation. AI has not been used to create fictional or misleading images intended to represent real products, services, people, or locations.
