How to Migrate WordPress to a UK Host Without Downtime
A practical checklist for moving WordPress to Fast2Host — staging, DNS, SSL, and how our free migration team handles cutover.
Moving a WordPress site should not mean overnight outages or broken checkouts. Whether you are leaving a crowded shared host or consolidating agency clients, a structured migration keeps traffic online and search rankings intact.
Plan before you copy files
- Inventory — list plugins, themes, custom code, cron jobs and any external services (CDN, SMTP, payment webhooks).
- Choose the destination plan — LiteSpeed + CloudLinux WordPress plans (or a VPS if you need root). Match PHP version and MySQL/MariaDB closely.
- Schedule the cutover — pick a low-traffic window and warn stakeholders. Keep the old host live until DNS fully propagates.
Staging first
Clone the site to a temporary hostname or subdomain on the new servers. Run Smart Update / plugin checks, fix mixed-content HTTPS issues, and verify forms and carts against a test payment mode.

DNS and SSL

- Flush object/page caches and purge any old CDN.
- Update Search Console property if the hostname changed.
- Keep the old host for 7–14 days as a rollback safety net, then cancel.
