Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in SmarterMail
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your mailbox by requiring a verification code when signing in to SmarterMail webmail.
ℹ Note: We recommend using an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or Authy for the best security.
How to Enable 2FA
- Log in to your SmarterMail webmail account.
- Click the Settings icon.
- Navigate to My Settings > Account.
- Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section.
- Click Enable.
- Enter a valid recovery email address when prompted.
- Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
- Enter the verification code generated by your app to complete setup.

Yes. Most email applications such as Outlook, Apple Mail and mobile mail apps will continue to work after 2FA is enabled.
Two-Factor Authentication mainly protects SmarterMail webmail logins. Most email applications such as Outlook, Apple Mail and mobile mail apps will continue using your normal mailbox password unless application passwords are required by your mail server configuration.
You can use your configured recovery email address to regain access. If you no longer have access to your recovery options, please contact support.
Two-Factor Authentication must be enabled by the server administrator. Contact support if the option is unavailable in your account settings.
