How to Manage Pages in WordPress
Pages are used for static content such as About Us, Contact, Services and other parts of your website that do not typically change frequently. This guide explains how to create, edit, organise, and delete pages in modern WordPress using the Block Editor (Gutenberg).
1. Access the Pages Section
- Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
- Click Pages in the left-hand menu.
You will see two main options:
- All Pages – view and manage existing pages
- Add New – create a new page
2. Creating a New Page
- Click Add New.
- Enter your page title in the top field (e.g., Our Services).
- Use the Block Editor to add your content:
- Paragraphs
- Headings
- Images
- Galleries
- Buttons
- Embeds
- Configure page options in the right-hand sidebar:
- Parent Page – organise pages in a hierarchy
- Template – choose a page layout provided by your theme
- Featured Image (optional)
- When finished, click Publish (or Update when editing an existing page).
Your new page is now live on your website.
3. Viewing and Editing Existing Pages
- Go to Pages → All Pages.
- Here you can:
- Edit – open the page in the Block Editor
- Quick Edit – change title, slug, parent page, and order
- View – see the page on the live website
Pages can be organised into hierarchies using the Parent and Order options, useful for creating multi-level menus.
4. Deleting a Page
- Go to Pages → All Pages.
- Hover over the page you want to remove.
- Click Trash.
Deleted pages are moved to the Trash folder for 30 days. You can restore or permanently delete them from there.
5. Tips for Managing Pages
- Use clear, descriptive titles for better SEO.
- Organise related content using parent pages.
- Use templates from your theme for consistent layout.
- Create a custom menu in Appearance → Menus to control page ordering.
- Draft mode allows you to work on pages without publishing them.
